[Torg] Interesting reference for computing technology

Basically, for less than $2500 USD, you can build a desktop-sized cluster
that would have been in the top ten *supercomputers* in 1993. Now imagine
what computers from Nippon Tech, Cyberpapacy and Star Sphere have the
potential to do... It's amazing how often Moore's Law has been coming up in
conversations recently. Let's see. If computers double in complexity
(processor power, speed, storage, etc.) every two years, assume that Star
Sphere is 300 years in advance of Core Earth... You know, Torg's logarithmic
scale comes in handy here. That's about +75 on the value chart, if I'm
calculating that right. (Yes, there's no reason to expect Moore's Law to
continue for 300 years. There was no reason to expect it to continue for 40
years, either. *grin*) Though honestly, when you get to the point where your
wrist computer can calculate the position and vector of every atom in the
universe...
