The article says that similar cases were reported in 2002
and 2004 elsewhere in southern Peru but doesn't say if they
were meteorites hitting the ground or cases of people
getting sick from toxic fumes coming out of the ground.
If they're having multiple cases of it, maybe it's the Land
Below forming connections to the surface world (there are
stories that the Andes are full of secret caverns and
tunnels....)
