Don't we, in fact, see a number of Olympic sprinters also competing in the
Long Jump? Harold Abrahams, Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis, etc, etc.
High-jumpers, of course, are built entirely differently because they seem to
be using their height to do a lot of the work of getting over the bar. But,
then, you wouldn't want to match their technique and do a Fosbury Flop to
get over a high wall in a game because you'd end up landing on your head.
I have actually been looking at moving a number of the Dex skills to
Strength instead, purely to try to balance out the "Dex is the most
important stat" thing. Jumping, Climbing, Swimming and Running could all be
argued as owing as much to sheer muscle power as they do to accuracy of
movement/swiftness of limb/etc.
