People have proposed that the Star Sphere (and even Core Earth)
could/should be built like that, but I don't care for it myself.
Fringe realities usually differ from the main reality in more than
just their WLs, yet disconnection is typically not seen in most
interstellar sci-fi settings, much less the behavioral changes that
would result from operating under the different WLs.

Yay! My FLGS has had a copy sitting on the shelf for a few months but
I don't know if it's been the same one or if they've been restocking
it. I suspect it's the former though. :(
