In game, I follow the examples in the original trilogy of characters
'hearing' the wordless song of a shard, receiving dreams from it and
similar strange experiences to explain the shard imparting some form of
information into the character's psyche. Then I go OOC and tell them
what all that mumbo-jumbo means in game terms. :)
