I was waiting until this weekend to see INDY4, and I had read the first
posting about this so I was waiting for the spending of the possibilities,
the "Escape" card to bypass the nuke, and the nod to "Creeping Doom."

This was the best reprentation of Terra that I'd seen in a long time (as the
other Indy movies were strictly Nile Empire). The shape of the skulls
reminded me more of the bone helmet worn by Sandman (Vertigo) than the
little grey buggers that showed up in ID4. The theatre I went to (Alamo
Draft House, Austin; FREE PLUG!) showed the Discovery Channel special on the
actual crystal skulls before the movie as an added bonus. Obviously, the
Indy skulls were only based on the factual items, but the movie was still
good.

There was a good nod to the Ark in the first scenes in the warehouse, which
I liked a lot. I wondered how many other Eternity Shards are hidden there.
That warehouse would certainly be a hard point for Core Earth reality, thus
making it a tempting target for all parties involved. That's a story idea
in itself, keep Warehouse 51 full of Shards from falling into Gaunty's
hands.

Cate Blanchett's character was straight out of Project: Omen, which just
added another layer to the whole story. She mentioned they'd all ready
autopsied two other grey buggers beforehand, so maybe that was what started
Project: Omen in the first place. As a quick aside, the 1980s DC comic
"Night Force" did have a storyline were the characters invaded a Soviet
psychic project that was trying to unleash some demons. Not Tharkold in any
way, but still and early P:O reference.
