You cannot (ignoring the use of Hero and/or Drama cards of course.)

I certainly did not mean to imply that. It seems rather clear to me
on the very next page under Countering Possibilities, "both points
are spent and there is no extra roll." Your point is spent and since
you can only spend one, that's that.
