I'm usually one to get info from mailing lists rather than posting to them,
but this struck me, and I realize that it is a bit behind in the
conversation, but felt it worth mentioning. I don't think you should be able
to actively train a skill that will allow you to passively observe more of
what is around you. If you are going to look for something, you would use
find, if you are going to notice something, it should be something that you
are either good at, or not good at, and this would seem to be based on
Perception (which is able to be increased, to a limit, with a higher cost
than skills). And it would make sense that it should be hard to actively
train a passive ability like noticing things around you. I think naked
Perception for that makes sense, though you could use evidence analysis, in
all honesty, to "notice" that something does not fit in with the
surroundings, or that something is out of place like that the drawer of the
desk you're looking at is slightly ajar when it should be closed and locked.
