[Race and Cyberpapacy working together?]
I'm wondering if you'dn't throw in some Papacy "missonaries" not to mention converts to the new religion. Unless I'm not mistaken, the Papcy anti-demon stuff does work on Techno-Demons. All you need is a good strong missonary leader with a bunch of Race converts and you have a holy war .... dare I say Crusade...that is taken effect. Considering this as a small plot point (I agree with KS Jim that Malraux wouldn't focus alot of energy into it) your knights could easily get caught up in this on the side of the Race against Techno-Demons. Especially if any of your knights are Papists themselves. (Anyone who is and has a sub-plot card will LOVE racking up possibilities with this. If they don't they need to be slapped really hard).
Anyway, if you have this small contengency of Papacy missonaries (which consist of NPCs focused on anti-demon as well as Charm-persuasive tactics) coercing the Race into converts and the PCs caught in the middle not realizing (at least not knowing initially) the Papacy is directly involved. They get sucked into helping these missionaries for the betterment of the people and thus your Storm Knights have to choose to help the Papacy defeat the demons, help the Demons defeat the Papacy, or sit back, watch, and let the innocents get slaughtered as the Papacy and the Demons will focus on the Knights unless they help their side and together they are stronger than the knights. OOohhh conundrum for the knights. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. If that isn't Papcy-Tharkold feel I'm not sure what is.
I might ahve to use that when Tharkold invades sometime next year in my game.
There is my .02
