[Torg] aysle a bit lame?

Go for it. I suggest involvement of the players since they'll be playing the game. Of course if they are already part of the process, cool.

I think that was the idea. It was a way to bring in the D&Ders. Common thread and whatnot. But if you want to change it. Go for it. How? *ponder* mmmmm

I have incorporated the pirates not so unsimilar to the old swashbuckling movies with magic/ballistas instead of cannon. Not as much as the new PotC trilogy. I would definatly include them if I were you, but I don't think I'd make it the main theme. After all, most of the pirate stuff occurred around the time frame that is taking place in Orrorsh with the colonization of the world. Most of the realms are of different time frames, and Asyle is the late dark ages/experimental gunpowder age.

This would drastically change the face of Asyle, that is for sure. But there is no reason not to do it. I've always found the lack of everyday magic spells very annoying. Had to turn to other magic books (Gurps mainly) for some low level magic common folks could do without hurting themselves.
My only question with this is if you are going to alter the power level of the magic....ergo if the magic axiom will be altered.

If you don't like it, why replace it? Just drop it all together. My opinion. Of course if you have something you want to replace it with, go for it.
I would suggest doing a basic write up of a fantasy realm you do want. Sparse magic, but at what power level? More powerful than what it currently is? The same level, or less powerful? I'm going to assume the Tech and Social levels will remain the same as they are prime for a fantasy realm, that leaves only the Spiritual Axiom. You didn't mention it, but what roles will the gods play in this? Different Gods? How influencial are they on the people?
I'm going to say to first do a basic write up of the realm as you see it. Then adjust the Magic and Spiritual axioms to what you are looking for. Once you've done that, then the axioms are in place.
Next would come the World Laws, and those, I'm thinking, will take the most work. I'ven't the time to make suggestions, but you could post your idea of a Fantasy realm and special aspects of the realm you are thinking, then suggestions could be made. but we can't read your mind, and I'm not really sure what kind of Fantasy realm you are aiming to play.
After that, I'd leave everything pretty much as it is. Use the same names, keep the same people in the place where they are. Otherwise you'll end up creating your own Source book. Not a bad idea, as more realms are better when desireing what to choose to play TORG with, but time consuming on your part. Of course if you have the time, gumpsion, etc....then go for it.

I think you should have at least three triangles in France. Paris, Avigoin, and one connecting the two. Then yea, drop a few triangles in Brazil and/or Canada for that matter.

As far as how the Akashans reaction will be? Perhaps they'll be confronting or they'll land somewhere else....Austrailia? Why can't they be Aborigines instead of Mayan? *shrug* Besides your group still has to call the Akashans to earth....*ponder*...if you choose to have them go through that trilogy. Just let them land right next to the 'Papacy...perhaps a little to the north and east.

*gasp* Another one like the LL...WOOT! It is one of the most potent IMHO, and the most difficult to run, and play *according to the players*. But if done right, it is quite enjoyable, as my current players are finding out.
Enjoy and involve the players, then all will have a better chance of enjoying themselves.
