[Torg] Martial Arts Question

Could someone remind me, what the heck Strike (NT SB, pg 76) does?
"This is a basic maneuver, relatively easy to master. While it does not have the awe-inspiring appearance of a whirling attack or a leaping kick might have, it is a swift and efficient way of downing an opponent."
That's nice, but what does it _do_?
Of the eight martial art styles listed, it's the first technique on three of them.
