Walking, talking Darkness Devices bring bad fever dreams of "Interview
With Evil" to mind so I have to say I don't like the idea. ;)

What might also fit is the flip side, she's an avatar of Apeiros.
Searching for espers, aliens and time travelers might be a search
for Possibility-Rated beings, perhaps with some higher purpose
for them as an ultimate goal.
