Exactly.  That's another reason I always preferred the "Weird Science is a WL" solution: it countermanded what I considered to be a silly and ill-advised statement in the published material.  Whenever someone brought up the published rule, I'd say "Sure, your Weird Science gizmo will work outside the Nile, same as any tool works in a realm whose axioms or WLs don't support it.  It works until you flub a roll.  Then it won't work at all until someone with Nile reality reconnects it." >:o)
