It's simple. High Lords and their Darkness Devices are able to
manipulate the flow of energy going into/out of stelae zones to
produce whatever kind of reality they want within it. They almost
always encompass landing zones with pure zones for defensive
purposes even though in the long run pure zones provide them with
less P-Energy.

As for all the Ayslish landing zones that aren't pure, my guess is
that the process was interrupted by Uthorion being forced out of
Ardinay's body and without any further interventions on the part of
Drakacanus the zones aside from the earliest one in Scotland
stabilized into dominant zones (or didn't stabilize at all in the
case of the Swedish mixed zone.)
