This is for the first year or so of the war.
Aysle SB, pg. 30, Adventuring in the Cosm: "adventuring in the cosm itself is far easier..." because "a large number of maelstrom bridges, at least one of which is controlled by an ally of the Storm Knights" and "Providing Ardinay's permission is secured, a Knight can climb the Oxford maelstrom bridge and emerge at Castle Ardinay in the Valley of the Sword..."
Ibid, pg 19: The Vikings... now communicate most often with a representative of Garth Tancred, and have the singular honor of guarding Castle Ardinay and the bridge within."
If Uthorion's forces control Castle Ardinay, why is it easy to adventure there if the only ally-friendly bridge from Earth to Aysle leads there? You hop over the maelstrom bridge and... Thorfinn's daddy and his elite honor guard attack you?
Note: pg. 30 is one of the reason we got the idea to... well, adventure in the cosm. If the entire place is a pure zone, "far easier" is somewhat of an exaggeration unless you're only using Aysle (and maybe Magna Veritan) characters.
