Since I run the Star Sphere as the "space opera cosm", I think there should be a significant percentage of Star Sphere natives who believe in luck. I think it also helps to differentiate characters from the Star Sphere from, say, Kadandrans.

In my planned campaign, "Kadandra" is a Cyber-Pulp reality: the technologies of Cyberpunk in an art deco sci-fi future. I once described it as "what if Golden Age science fiction writers thought up cyberware and a global net?" Cyber-Pulp in space becomes Space Opera, it's Lensman meets Nueromancer, as edited by Campbell.

In such a world, alien races and star empires are a must, so there is a conquering empire, the mysterious Coar, and an alliance of galactic races, lead by (some say controlled) the Zinatt. Earth is the newest, most probationary member of the galactic alliance and Earth was only granted membership because of a lie.

And all of this, before the first techno-demon maelstrom bridge lands.

Final note:

Since (for many reasons) this version of Kadandra can't have been the source for the Cyberpapacy's cyberware, I'm working on an alternate explanation for the Surge and the Godnet, one based around an alternate version of Tharkold. I'm writing that up; I may post it soon.
