I'm starting the planning for a new Torg campaign, the reason I began doing work on the revised axiom charts. This campaign is a rethinking of "Month 0" campaigns.
Instead of starting as a bunch of Core Earthers who get invaded, they start on Day 1 with a party of characters from any of the realities.
Background
Kadandra was invaded by Tharkold. In fighting Tharkold, the Kadandrans found a Dimthread Device (a tool created by a Highlord that allows people to dimthread between cosms) along with information about Tharkold invading a new reality: Earth.
During the war, an elite group of Kadandran soldiers-the Helljumpers-operated as Special Forces behind enemy lines (most were stormers, obviously). After discovering the dimthread device, their commander decided to scout out the many cosms involved in the invasion of Earth, to gather information and to recruit agents.
This new group of soldiers- Cosmjumpers- eventually comes to include Kadandrans, Earthers, Aylish, and others. The PC's are a group of Cosmjumpers, who start play just before the Wars break out on Earth.
This allows for PC's from any reality who are already somewhat familiar with the concept of reality, reality wars, stelae, and the invading cosms. It allows them to fight back from the very beginning, instead of starting 3 months in, against entrenched High Lords.
It seems to allow the strengths of "Month 0", without the bait-and-switch problems.
The Godnet and The Grid
Official campaign: Tharkold invades Kadandra. Tharkold then invades Earth, and one Kadandran travels to Earth. This Kadandran chips Malraux, who releases the Surge. Result: Cyberpapal cyberware (and other technologies) are Kadandran in origin.
My campaign: As I alluded to yesterday, in Kadandra only certain exceptional people can get cyberware. The rest of the population has access to Tech 26, but not cyberware. This means that Cyberpapal Tech can't be based off Kadandran.
Solution: Instead of being chipped by a Kadandran plaque, Malraux is chipped by a Tharkoldan one. Thus, the cyberware of the Cyberpapacy is based off Tharkoldan designs, not Kadandran.
This also means the GodNet is based off the Grid, Tharkold's computer network.
What I want to get feedback on is the design of the Grid and the GodNet.
