I attempted something like that with one of my psionics rewrites. In
playtesting it went over like a lead balloon, less flexibility was
actually wanted because it was quicker and easier to just use the same
set numbers instead of stopping to think about them every time.
Not that I'm opposed to the concept, I like it and think that it being
something the Ayslish have over other magic-using realities is a good
idea. The mechanics of how its done though are going to be what makes
or breaks it, it has to be something the players will be willing to use
in gameplay.
